Magical time in the High Tatras
In the winter months, the High Tatras region is a popular winter resort with perfect conditions for downhill skiing and cross-country skiing. Miramonti Resort, due to its ideal location, is a good starting point for visiting the surrounding ski slopes.
Tatranská Lomnica is the highest ski resort in Slovakia. The terrain at the foot of Lomnický štít is maintained up to the altitude of 2196 m. The resort boasts the longest ski slope in Slovakia long 5500 meters. In Tatranska Lomnica you can find slopes of all difficulties with total length of 12 km. Among the easier ones belong Štart and Buková hora with modern chairlifts. The higher located course of Čučoriedka will offer red slopes of medium difficulty. The steepest of them is the Lomnické saddle with a black mark. The largest and best known skiing area is Štrbské pleso. Runners will find a total of 8 professionally modified circuits, available for the entire winter season thanks to the artificial snow.
The Tatras may lie under the snow, but you will not have to give up walking tourism. Even in winter there are approximately 20 km of marked hiking trails, which are accessible for visitors to alpine huts. Cold Creek Falls are particularly attractive during the winter months, when the falling water creates interesting ice scenery. The starting point of this trip is Tatranska Lomnica. After an hour of uphill hike you can reach the waterfalls, from which you can continue along the main hiking trail up to Skalnaté Pleso.
